Welcome to my storytime blog! I have created a Virtual Storytime room with some stories and fun activities for you to do at home when you can't make it to the library. Stories and activities are changed every couple of weeks. You can also access past story blogs by using the sidebar search box.

You Are You

"A Wasn't just isn't. He just isn't present. But you ... You ARE YOU! And, now isn't that pleasant!" Dr. Seuss, from Happy Birthday to You!

ACTIVITIES:
  • YARN LETTERS Celebrate your name with cardboard and yarn. Ask your grownup for permission to raid the recylables again, this time for card board boxes -- an empty cereal box is perfect. If you have enough cardboard, you can choose to make one letter or your full name, or completely spell out your name. You may also need your grownup's help to cut out the letters. Then, get your scraps of yarn, a dot of glue, and completely wrap the letter(s) in yarn.

  • RAINBOW NAME PLAQUES Write your name in the center of a piece of paper or cardstock with black marker. Then get out your colored pencils or markers. Use these to trace separate lines around your name, a different color in each line making a beautiful rainbow around your name.

STEAM
  • CODE YOUR NAME Binary code is how computers work, how they send and receive messages. In this fun STEAM activity, you can use binary code to pattern a pasta necklace (or bracelet). You could also substitute pony beads for the pasta if you have these on hand.
