Welcome to my storytime blog! I have created a Virtual Storytime room with some stories and fun activities for you to do at home when you can't make it to the library. Stories and activities are changed every couple of weeks. You can also access past story blogs by using the sidebar search box.

In an effort to ease any stay-at-home/social distancing blues, I have compiled an alphabetical list of on-line resources and activities. I will add to this list as I discover new potential resources.

PLEASE NOTE, some of the following sites are only free for a limited time only. Some sites require you to sign up for free usage. Other sites might require your library card number. 

 
ACTIVE WILD ONLINE ZOO
Visit the zoo without leaving home. This website offers pictures and facts on a large variety of animals, with videos and activity worksheets.

ART BREAK -- NEW VICTORY
New Victory Arts Break offers ideas for teachers and families to incorporate performing arts into their online learning. Each week will focus on a different art form with a series of free activities for kids guided by New Victory Teaching Artists.

AUTHORS EVERYWHERE
A YouTube channel created and run by children’s book writers and illustrators. Users will find workshops, readings, activities, art projects, writing games, and writing advice that will offer fun and creative distractions during potential school closures and quarantines.

BRAINS ON PODCASTS
Brains On! is an award-winning audio show for kids and families. Each week, a different kid co-host joins Molly Bloom to find answers to fascinating questions about the world.


In collaboration with Random House, Ms. Linda reads aloud full-length stories.

CIRCLE ROUND 

WBUR's Circle Round is a podcast that adapts carefully-selected folktales from around the world into sound- and music-rich radio plays for children. Notable voices from stage and screen bring these stories to life. 

CHILD'S PLAY BOOKS 
Child's Play has an array of free, downloadable activities perfect for Home Learning & Play for PreK and K-1 students.

CODE.ORG
Keep computer science a part of your child's life with coding activities. The site offers a variety of tutorials, both on and off screen use. Signing into Code.org is required.

DAV PILKEY AT HOME
Get creative with Dav Pilkey and some of your favorite characters from Dog Man and Captain Underpants. A new video is added each Friday.


South Carolina State Library offers this daily calendar page of early literacy activities to do with your child. It also suggests books to read, which you can look for in the Hoopla, Book Flix, or Tumble Books databases.
