Dreams

"It does not do to dwell on dreams and forget to live, remember that." -- J. K. Rowling, Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone, 1997.

Grandmother's Dreamcatcher
by Becky Ray McCain; illustrated Stacey Schuett

CRAFT:
  • DREAMCATCHER CRAFT Make your own dreamcatcher using a paper plate, yarn, beads, and some feathers. If you don't have some of these items, be inventive with some alternatives -- pasta for beads, pompoms or small pinecones for feathers, a cardboard circle or container lid instead of the paper plate.

  • PAPER DREAMCATCHER An alternative to the craft above is this printable dreamcatcher from Crayola.com.

ART LESSON:
  • DREAMCATCHER PAINTING This video is a third variation of the dreamcatcher. You will need a blank sheet of paper, a marker, crayons, and water color paints. Notice that the basic dreamcatcher elements remain the same -- circular, web-like pattern in the circle, and feathers hanging from the
      bottom.
