Plant a Garden Day

— Gertrude Jekyll

The Curious Garden

STEM:
  • HOW-TO GROW BEAN PLANTS IN A JAR -- You just need a jar, some paper towels, a pack of bean seeds, water, light, and a little time.

  • GROW A VEGETABLE PATCH FROM SCRAPS: Instead of tossing away the scraps from fruits and vegetables, explore how you can re-grow them. Grow beetroot and carrot greens, celery, lettuce, scallions, onions, and herbs in a tray of water using the tops of these plants. Plant a potato in a pot of dirt, or fruit trees from their seeds. What can you make grow that you might otherwise have thrown out? Check out the website link above to get you started.

Look for more stories and activities in the coming days.
